My good friend and founding partner of The Uncle Brothers passed away in October, 2014. It was very painful redesigning this website, even though I know he would want the music of the Uncle Brothers to continue.
Danny has impacted so many lives with his amazing songs, humor, and undeniable presence on stage both for his adult career and for the work we did with children. He will be profoundly missed and I have vowed to keep his music, energy, and spirit alive as I move forward with the next generation of Uncle Brothers shows.
I encourage you to search for his music on CDbaby and itunes. I know you will enjoy his amazing songs, God-given golden voice, and insightful and profound lyrics.
This is from his website at dannyquinn.com:
Danny Quinn passed away on October 30th after experiencing a sudden medical challenge. Danny was born in Suffern, NY on January 23, 1959, son of the late Mary Ellen (Earnshaw) and Richard Quinn. He spent his childhood living in the Eagle Valley area of Tuxedo, NY, and graduated from George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo.
Danny's life was always focused on music, both as a performer and as an avid listener of many diverse musical talents. As a youth, he was involved in numerous school productions, and performed with his first band, "Cellar" in high school. Danny was a performer of Irish & American folk music for over three decades, perfroming with his brother Tim as "The Mighty Quinn," in the bands "Stoutheart," "The Danny Quinn Band," and "The Uncle Brothers," and touring nationally with legendary musician Tommy Makem. Danny was best known for his work as a solo musician and songwriter, gaining a wide fan base for both his original music and his renditions of traditional Irish and American folk classics.
Danny will be remembered for his generous nature and gentle, loving spirit, for his many adventures taking others to Ireland, for his music, his jokes, and his smile. We will never drink a glass of pinot noir or a cup of Starbucks without thinking of him. He will be missed by his family, his friends, his fans, his dogs, and his fellow musicians. As Danny shared in his music, we will continue to feel his spirit all around us. He leaves a place in our hearts that no one can hold but his friendly soul.
Danny is survived by his life partner, Marta Koonz, and her daughters, Megan Coan and Chelsea Stone, his two daughters, Lisa Trischitta Moranz and her husband Aaron of Goshen, NY, and Valerie Trischitta, currently residing in Thailand, his brother Timothy R. Quinn and his wife Pamela of Middletown, NY, his sister Kathleen V. Kehoe and her husband Thomas of Kingston, NY, his brother Robert T. Quinn and his wife Hildegarde of Goshen, NY, and many loving nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and cousins. Danny is pre-deceased by his sister Patricia E. Trischitta.
There will be no wake or funeral per Danny's wishes. To provide Danny's many friends and fans with an opportunity to raise the parting glass, there will be a series of concerts celebrating Danny's life. These concerts will be held in the near future at the various locations where Danny had large and loyal followings. Fellow musicians who wish to be included in these concerts are asked to contact Megan Coan at firstname.lastname@example.org or 908-797-6726. Concert locations and dates will be listed on Danny's Facebook page and website.
The family would like to thank the Neurointensive Care and Neuroscience Units at Yale New Haven Hospital, and Vitas Innovative Hospice Care foer the support and care they provided for Danny and his family. Donations in Danny's name may be made to Team Red, White, and Blue (www.teamrwb.org), an organization devoted to enriching the lives of America's veterans that Danny actively supported.
